This community was kinda dead, so I made it my right to say something.

Hey y'all, has anyone ever had one of those judges that takes them a million years to write a critique on an 8 minute (or however long) event?

Sure it's nice feedback, but when it literally takes longer for you to write comments than the entire speech itself, it's annoying. Ghakghkahaaffjkahfk. I've never been so irritated by silence/pencil scratching in my life, especially since I haven't gone and I wasn't sure if I was going after the nervous dude to my right or the snoring chick that fell asleep behind me.

AHNNYWAY, how are all the alums? Coming back to judge/visit?

i stumbled upon this "forum" as either accident or part of my destiny, and so i figured i could use it to keep in touch with members who want to think of goals for next year's season, i know my season started already and have already spread the word of our program after winning a 1000 dollar scholarship for my ability to speak in public. I hope this posts to right spot anyway, my goals this year are

1. beat DGS at their invitational
2. Send PIR to state
3. Get more competitors to state
4. Bring home some plaques so we can have a reason to expand our trophy case
5. Get another female into extemp

Another thing, does anyone know rebecca craig? She is supposed to be our new female extemper and was VERY GOOD in debate, i'm tryin debate next year so if anyone could get me in touch with her me an B-mac (McBride) can introduce her to the event so she goes in prepared next year!
Feel Free to post your goals and maybe before the first meeting we can have a refined list to present to coaches and newbies/novices

If anyone still checks this and is interested in playing in a kickball contact either me or Stephanie Janisch about it. We are planning on starting it on Tuesday June 21st, at 2:00 pm. There will be 4 teams and a 6 game reg. season then a playoff. Either post if you want to/can play on here or talk to Stephanie or myself. It will be a lot of fun that is for sure!

Despite me initial belief that this was another one of the myriad elk grove villages, it seems that my spaceship, after being hurled into a stellar drift, has crash-landed upon the haven of my own Elk Grove speech team.

Why not show some support, I am, after all, sacrificing my saturdays, a bit of sleep, and perhaps a couple of pints of blood to this team.

Hello, I am Thomas Dittmeier, an Impromptu speaker absolutely none of you know. My sucesses in speech are non-existent- I am anxious, my voice is rasp and grumbly, I tend to rant and fiddle, and I occasionally make a pass at young female judges.

Hello, then, all. Props to you for developing your linguistic skill, as all people should.

I love speech team. The people, the events, the coaches...the whole deal. But I think Im prolly one of the worst Verses on the team. I mean I try to put my feelings in my poems and totally blow it. =( oh well. I have 2 more years after this to either perfect it or do something else. *sigh* But i love speech. Thats the point.

So I would like to start off by saying, I am so glad to be back. As much as I was dreading the beginning of the season, it is almost as if speech has filled a void in my life over the past couple of months.

Next I would like to point out that coaching with Mr. Cavazos is quite possibly the most vigorating experience ever. I strongly advise varsity members especially senior varsity members to coach with him. But only do so if you are ready to. And by ready to, I mean you know that the performance you give to him is everything that you would do in a competition. Because if you don't he will give you some crap about memorizing and what not, the same thing you get from ever other coach. But if you go ready to perform, that man can give you the best advice on how to step it up a notch.

In between coaching with Mr. Cavazos and Miguel, we talked about senior year which made me realize something. After this year, I can no longer consider myself a member of the speech team. That was a harsh realization. It wasn't until recently that I realized how much this team means to me. I mean, sure the team has always meant something, but this is my life. This is the one thing that I can grasp. Sure the plays are great and the memories are nice. And V-Show was a blast, but speech is something that I will never just have memories for. This makes me want to have something substantial.

And so tonight I really questioned myself. I sat down and I asked myself how much I wanted this. It didn't even take me a second to reassure myself that I want that one. I want to take that round, because for the last three years I have worked hard enough for it, and I know what it takes, so it is my turn.

I know that this was alot of me explaning my realization, but I only hope that you don't disregard this as another motivational "speech" because it isn't. Do what you will. But if you want it, and if you want it real bad, then get it because after this year or the next year it will be gone.

If there are no excuses,
there will be no regrets.
